A couple of my favorite bloggers posted their recommendations for Self Care improvement. I also discovered a couple of new blogs that I added my name to their lists and am looking forward to reading in the months ahead.
Cindy, based in Monterey County, has one of the best blogs for design, fashion & beauty, featured some great input on Vitamin C Serum and what to look for. There are so many out there now that my head would spin as I tried to select which was best so I would eventually put them down and walk away. Now I have some knowledge and you know what that means? Knowledge is Power. Off to find the best value by content and price.
Mary Ann, another terrific blog from the SF Bay and SoCal, shared her list of 26 Small Ways to Feel Better and it is great! Ticks all the boxes with common-sense reminders and new-to-me ideas. It's such a great list that I have saved as my laptop background so when I power it up, it Powers Me Up! Please check it out as we head to springtime and the season of renewal.
For me, Self Care has been remembering to use my exfoliating gloves in the shower every once in a while! That's It! Not exactly a commitment to myself With the relative humidity at a gasping for breath low, I have started to use the gloves every morning to slough off dry flakey skin and follow with a body lotion, anything on hand. I have several bottles of different brands that I am trying to use up. Some mornings it may be a self-tanner from Target on legs and arms. This is a few bucks cheaper than Jergens and is better on keeping the orange tone down. It has definitely made a difference in my day as clothes feel softer and more comfortable.
I then apply a different lotion to my feet. I have Tarzan/Jane feet as I hate wearing shoes while at home. In and out of the garden means dry and tough heels and tows. I am currently using Advanced Clinicals Callus lotion that I grabbed at Marshall's. Any lotion will do for this but I admit this one is just great.
I then slip between the sheets for a good night's sleep. I do feel that it has made a difference in the quality of my sleep. I am multi-tasking even in my sleep!
A final new self-care change is my breakfast. I was eating a bowl of cereal with sugar and milk but with the days going colder, I just didn't like a cold bowl of grains in the morning. Also wanted to reduce the amount of sugar in my diet. So I have started preparing Overnight Oats and then heating it up in the morning. Here is my recipe that I shake-up in a Bonne Maman jam jar, pop in the fridge and then zap in the morning.
1/2 C Bob's Red Mill Extra Thick Rolled Oats
1 tsp Chia seeds
1 tsp maple syrup
1tsp crunchy peanut butter
1/2 C nut milk
Chia seeds, maple syrup, peanut butter, and nut milk all found at Trader Joes.
Oh! Did I mention that I have lost 10 pounds in the last year? Super Super Self-Head-Care! Don't have any tips here. At least nothing that you would want to try. Long story but hubs bealth care crisis in 2019 had me running, worrying and stressing.
Thanks for stopping by Moonlight Lane!
